Do you have one? That one piece of furniture that you just had to own. That you painstakingly saved for. That, after all these years, continues to inspire. For Chris Nagle, owner of Outermost Home in Provincetown, MA, that piece was an original Westport Adirondack chair, purchased decades ago at Brimfield Market. Though the chair was designed by Thomas Lee and Harry Bunnell in 1903, Chris was drawn to its surprisingly contemporary lines. “I saw it, came home to the Cape, couldn’t stop thinking about it. I drove back the next day in the pouring rain hoping the dealer was still there. At the time, it was the most money I’d ever spent on furniture. I set it on my lawn and just walked around it for a couple days, admiring every angle.”
For 25 years Chris dreamed of replicating his timeless chair, until finally, the opening of his gallery provided the impetus to release the Outermost Chair. Based on the original, Chris’ design does feature minor tweaks to streamline the chair’s look, as well as maximize comfort and durability.
