If you’ve reached the point of your houseplant collection where pots just sort of mush together in an expanding blob on the floor, might we suggest introducing levels? A few strategically placed pedestals can add dimension to your blob, give each plant more space to grow, and boost up the light-loving varieties toward the windows in a room. Here are our favorite plant pedestals in wood.

Above: Designed by Pete Oyler for Areaware, Plant Pedestals in beech wood are made of lap joinery; $50 for a set of two (tall and short) pedestals at Areaware.

Above: From Counter Space in Los Angeles, the C-S Plant Stand is handmade with traditional joinery in red oak; $140 each at Counter Space. For more see Counter-Space: Furniture and Homeware for Mindful Living, California Style on Remodelista.

Above: An actual stool for sitting (or for plants!) designed by Philippe Malouin for Resident, the Offset Stool is £370 at TwentyTwentyOne.

Above: For a petite version, the Wooden Stand from Foraged Home is handmade in Indonesia in three sizes: small (2.75 inches high), medium (2.75 inches high but wider than the small), and large (3.75 inches high); $10 to $25 each at Foraged Home.

Above: The luxe plant stand, a stool from Los Angeles designers Atelier de Troupe, the Chene Stool in ash or oak is $950.

Above: For just a little lift, Terrain’s Footed Teak Plant Stand is made of recycled teak and comes in natural (shown) or black in small ($12), medium ($16), and large ($24) from Terrain.

Above: The Blackcreek Mercantile & Trading Co. Natural Step Stool can be used to raise up plants 7.5 inches from the ground. It’s made of white oak treated with linseed oil for a natural finish; $415 at March.

Above: From designer Shin Okuda, the Waka Waka Squared Stool is made of baltic birch plywood with a natural oil finish. (Friends of mine use these stools as plant stands, and I can attest, they look.) The stools are $375 each at Iko Iko in Los Angeles. For more on Waka Waka see Tiny Alters: Furniture Inspired by Japanese Temples on Remodelista.

Above: The Another Country Stool One is a three-legged stool in solid oak that is £162 at Another Country. It can be paired with the Another Country Kids Stool One of the same style, only 10 centimeters shorter, for £185 at TwentyTwentyOne.

Above: Another design from Counter Space in Los Angeles, only this time they’re proper stools, that also look great with plants as it turns out. They come in two heights: the C-S Low Stool at 13 inches high ($345) and the Round Stool Standard at 18” high ($435), both available at Counter Space.

Above: For a good-looking option on a budget, Ikea’s versatile Frosta Stool, a riff on designer Alvar Aalto’s famed Aalto Stool 60, is made of birch and $14.99 at Ikea.

Above: By designers Claesson Koivisto Rune for Nikari, the Marfa Stool is another luxe option (it’s £576) for your very best plant (or for a money tree perhaps?). It’s available in ash or black-stained ash from TwentyTwentyOne.
