With spring around the corner, the Remodelista editors found themselves craving color this week. Here are five of favorite colorful design trends to steal:

Colorblock Kitchens

“With a dose of saturated color,” Alexa writes, “a forgotten kitchen was transformed, with unexpected electric orange countertops, deep olive green, and cool blue cabinets with concealed storage.” Read more in this week’s Kitchen of the Week post.

Painters’ Palettes

Danish architect and designer Finn Juhl “thought of color as an emotional trigger, just like a painter would. These emotional color triggers can be found throughout the home, some are very subliminal (the red wall in the living room, for instance), or the blue paint wrapped around the windows,” says John Baker of Toronto-based store Mjölk, who recently toured the architect’s house during a trip to Copenhagen. Mohair Blankets

Mohair blankets are photo-shoot stylists’ secret weapons. “Whenever I’m on a shoot, the one prop I cannot live without is a mohair throw,” writes Alexa. “Mohair, woven from angora goat and wool, has a great texture. You can toss it on the end of a bed or over the arm of a sofa and it falls just right and scrunches even better. Plus, mohair is dyed in the best colors: chalky grey, vegetal green, or not-too-millennial pink.” See her favorite sources for mohair blankets in this week’s 10 Easy Pieces post.
