Japanese industrial designer Ryosuke Fukusada studied and worked in Milan, spending four years as assistant designer to Patricia Urquiola before setting up his own design studio in Japan. Collaborating with Rui Pereira, a Milan-based Portuguese industrial designer, the duo created Faro, a mini fireplace with an ethanol burner that can be used both indoors and out. The Faro was featured earlier this year at Salone del Mobile—we're hoping that this clever prototype makes it into production. For more, go to Faro.

Faro Mini Fireplace: Gardenista

Above: The portable fireplace is designed to bring people together in the same way as a traditional wood stove. Designed for an ethanol burner, wood can also be used.

Faro-fireplace: Remodelista

Above: Drawing on the designers' native countries, Faro was created sourcing materials and craft techniques from Japan, Portugal, and Italy.
