There is something about finding—or sending—an anonymous gift that puts a spring in our step. So naturally we took note when we learned about (inter)National Lonely Bouquet Day taking place on Sunday, June 30. The concept is simple. We're excited that gardening expert Julie Chai has joined our team of contributors. She'll be writing a regular column for us about DIY container plants, starting with this week's post on creating a DIY Summer Planter With a Cool Palette that will thrive in hot weather.

Speaking of birds: Michelle is planning to head to this restaurant, seen over on Remodelista.

Meredith: How is your lavender this week? Does it need more sun, less sun? Perhaps a vacation? Or some music?
And finally, Stacey's peach tree is about to burst with ripeness. Any suggestions for what she should make? A crisp? A cobbler? Or perhaps a Peach Mint Julep à la Amy Stewart?
