It looks safe to go outdoors now. Optimists, False Spring-conspiracy theorists, and weather forecasters agree: the sun is here to stay. With one month left before summer solstice, we at Gardenista plan to take full advantage of perfect temperatures and rooftop parties and park benches. Here's what we'll be listening to:

We deserve this good weather, by the way. There is nothing more disappointing than falling victim to a False Spring. It happens every year—a few beautiful, sunny days that materialize as if from the pages of a catalog, only to be displaced without so much as a warning cloud by a slew of cold, rainy ones that seem to go on forever. This year we knew better than to break out our flip flops after Day One of sunshiny weather. But after a week of sunshine? See you at the park.
Spring Playlist:
- "No Rain" by Blind Melon, because we like to imagine we're wearing the same tutu as the girl in the music video.
- "See the Sun" by The Kooks, because that's exactly what we plan to do.
- "Daylight" by Maroon 5, because we've regained the light we lost when we set our clocks forward.
- "Spring" by Two Door Cinema Club, because we agree that "one more day is not enough"—we're crossing our fingers for another month of this, at the very least.
- "I Am Young" by Coconut Records, because it reminds us that everything is reborn (including our commitment to working out in time for summer bathing suit weather. We hope).
- "Blue Skies" by Noah and the Whale, because the spring is a fresh start.
- "Changes" by David Bowie, because we love how the topography of our gardens ch-ch-changes as flowers start to bloom.
- "Thistled Spring" by Horse Feathers, because the beautiful guitar plucking captures the essence of those prickly plants that seem to be everywhere in spring.
- "Step" by Vampire Weekend, because this springy song came out just in time—and because we feel it in our bones, too.
- "Sun Hands" by Local Natives, because the tempo is upbeat enough to carry us straight through to summer solstice.
